Spotting: You may have luteal phase defect, and you should have serial Progesterone drawn in the luteal phase, and an endometrial biopsy a week after ovulation.

Sore : Sore throat is a fairly common symptom associated with many illnesses. Most of the time it resolves on its own without any other issues. Occasionally it can be due to something more serious that needs treatment.

Reasons to seek care are: 
- any fever - since it could be strep and you can't tell without an exam/testing 
- if it lasts longer than 3 or 4 days 
- any difficulty opening your mouth 
- unable to swallow 
- severe pain 
- bleeding in the throat 
- redness or swelling on the outside of the neck 
- any difficulty breathing or noisy breathing

in the meantime, taking Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen for pain, drinking plenty of fluids such as hot tea/broth or cold liquids and a spoonful of honey can help.  These have all been shown to be as effective (and safer!) than most over-the-counter medications.  Our grandmas really did know best!

Aspiration: You may have aspirated some liquid causing that reaction. At this time, since you're not showing major signs such as respiratory distress, fever, sharp chest pain on inspiration(pleurisy), wheezing or uncontrollable coughing, I would simply continue to observe for those adverse signs and call your physician if any of them develop.

Guiafenesin: Guiafenesin is an expectorant that helps thin secretions in the correct dosage.  Remember your three year old has a normal cough reflex and he can cough to keep secretions out of the airway, preventing pneumonia.  The tricky thing is that it tastes hideous in suspension, so many liquid formulations for kids are actually " watered down" so to speak.

Reflux or sinuses: This is typical of a reflux problem or allergy sinusitis with porterior drainage that either one or both some times go to your wind pipe and irritated while you are sleeping and you wake up with chemical bronchitis from either the acid or the sinus drainage. See a doctor who can refer you to the proper specialist for evaluation and treatment.

Female? Vaginal?: If you have been lying flat for a prolonged period, then blood can pool in the vagina. When standing up, gravity allows this to drain. If you are not female or this is not about vaginal discharge then please clarify and re-ask question.

: Blood and mucus in the stool is very scary. It's usually caused by an infection and clears on its on in a few days. If you have other symptoms, abdominal pain, back pain, a rash, fever, call your doctor for an in person visit.
