Allergic contact: Allergic contact dermatitis occurs when your skin comes in contact with substances that your skin is sensitive or allergic to. The reaction usually appears within 24-48 hours after exposure to the allergen. Symptoms that are common include redness, itching and swelling. Sometimes blistering and weeping of the skin also develop. What you are allergic to is determined by your genes, not foods.

Food Allergy: Yes food allergies can cause atopic dermatitis.  Testing may not always be accurate.  My suggestion is to do a food challenge by eliminating the food you are worried about for a week and then introducing it back.  If you skin clears and then gets the rash back after reintroducing the offending food, simply avoid that food.

Yes: You should make sure your makeup is hypoallergenic (for example clinique). Makeup often has fragrance or other ingredients that can irritate skin. Using Hydrocortisone cream for less than one week can help. Prolonged use on the face can cause thinning of the skin and other problems. Consult a physician for advice and prescription treatment as well.
