i'm a male. i'm having brown nipple discharge with no swelling at all in my breast and only coming from my left one. what does this mean exactly?

Brown nipple  d/c: Nipple discharge is rare and not normal in  males and could be a very serious disease , such a breast tumor.  Would follow up this week with doctor and have mammogram/  cytology evaluation of the discharge.

Please see your GP: My advice is not to ignore such a problem in the breast.
There are quite few causes to think about from simple hormonal problem to infection and even cancer.
So I would like you to see your doctor for further assessment and management as needed.

Breast swelling: Any painful swelling in a breast should be examined by a physician and if a lump is felt that he/she would order studies to evaluate it like an ultrasound and mammogram. You might be suffering from fibrocystic changes - usually a sign of estrogen dominance. I recommend you make an appointment with your gyn doctor as soon as possible.

Abdominal hernia ?: If you have previous abdominal surgery, or this "bulge, swelling" is in a straight line vertical below your ribs,  a hernia may be the cause. Occasional pain is common, but if the hernia becomes very tender or nausea and vomiting occur, see your physician for a referral to a surgeon for diagnosis and potential treatment.

Typical : Anyone having intercourse without birth control or condoms may get pregnant. If intercourse was within 72 hours you consider taking emergency contraception. Emergency contraception  is a high dose of birth control to disrupt the hormonal patterns to delay or prevent ovulation. Abnormal bleeding after is common. Check  preg test in 10 days.

Post Operative Care: It would be advisable to communicate with your surgeon  before engaging in strenuous activities. Your surgeon has the most complete knowledge about the details of your operation and is the best person to advise you on any aspects of post-operative care.

ER can evaluate: Shortness of breath is not normal, unless it is the mild temporary shortness of breath with sports activities (but even then, one must be sure she is not having more shortness of breath than her sports peers have). Possible reasons for chest and epigastric symptoms include heart attack, pneumothorax, pericarditis, acid reflux, pneumonia, costochondritis, etc...  ER can evaluate for heart attack.

Male breast tissue: About 1/2  males will undergo a transient  nipple/breast enlargement  at he onset of puberty. Carrying extra weigh aggravates the issue as part of the enlargement is fat.Most will resolve slowly as other hormonal changes kick in over about  a year. If the process is unchanged after 2-3 yrs & you've made an effort to lose any extra weight, it is time to discuss it with a surgeon. No meds will fix it.
