What other tests?: Besides a Pap Smear did you have any other tests? The Pap is a screening test for cervical cancer and it is not intended to test other issues that you might be having. If symptoms started after you had your last GYN exam and no other labs besides the Pap go back to your GYN provider for evaluation. I would also suggest to have a pregnancy test if sexually active,

dx w/ hpv in 14. 17 pap smear abnormal with low-risk hpv. 20 pap smear normal but no hpv testing done. dr says hpv is only clinically relevant if pap is abnormal. i want to know if i still have hpv. she says i dont need testing. can i get it done?

Some basics: HPV is a family of virus strains that range in importance from common skin wart strains to 7 or more associated with cervical cancer. When or if you acquire a cancer associated strain it would generally clear/not be contagious a few years later but it could trigger cancer years or decades later in some. The pap smears will still be needed, no mater what strains you acquire.

6 y ago that i had a pap smear that showed i had low grade lesions. but it disappeared and for years it was normal . i recently had a pap smear done and it show hpv mrna e6/e7 detected ? do this mean i have cancer ? now its abnormal worried?

: No, it does not mean that you have cancer or even dysplasia. However, you should get repeat PAPs at the frequency recommended by your doctor.
It would be useful to get HPV vaccine to prevent infection by other strains of HPV.

It depends: It depends on what the abnormalities were and the time frame. Sometimes biopsies are done to be sure there is nothing worse than what is shown on the pap and the abnormality is then safely followed with paps to be sure it doesn't get worse.

Yes: Yes, you can have a pap smear done at that time.  I would recommend that you have a liquid based pap test and not a conventional pap smear at that time of your cycle because it allows us to remove any remaining excess blood and make sure the cells are preserved well for the best detection of any possible abnormal cells.

You : You should have pap smear and pelvic exam starting at age 21. Figure out which gynecologists are covered by your insurance company and ask other women you know for a referral.

ok hi so i recently went to the doctor to get  a pap smear & since im sexually active the doctors told me that i had came down with trich & bv. what i wanted to know is does that mean my male partner has it even tho he didnt give it to me?

BV, bacterial : vaginitis, is not typically sexually transmitted. Trich, trichomonas, is almost always sexually transmitted. Males typically have very little symptoms.
