Crusting: It's not always possible, but a staph infection like MRSA would more likely cause scabs and oozing, sometimes referred to as honey-colored crusts. There may also be blisters, or bullous impetigo, more common in the very young.

Contact Dermatitis: Diffuse, flat red rash simultaneouly appearing on both hands (especially if itching) is likely due to contact with irritant or atopic substance.  Mrsa can produce localized skin infections characterized by focal pain, swelling, redness and formation of abcess.  
Current rash should be initially managed with elimination of any new contacts and use of topical corticosteroids.

Find a better doc.: You are not describing a spider bite.  Venomous spiders are found almost exclusively in the south-western USA. Even there they rarely attack humans. Where do you live? Is it itchy or painful? If it annoys you, see a dermatologist.

A lot to consider: MRSA is a type of bacteria, not a diagnosis. Does he have a MRSA pneumonia? How is that related to a brown recluse spider? Which antibiotics delivered how, at what doses, for how long? He must have been very ill. Sounds like he has monilial intertrigo related in part to antibiotics. If this is the case, he will improve with miconazole cream, Castellani's solution, and a single dose of oral flucona

i was recently diagnosed with mrsa via groin swab. took bactrim, (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) no visible rash. do i need to be retested and have nasal swab? am i a carrier now?

CONFUSING QUESTION: It is not clear why you had a swab done in your groin.If you had pustules or weepy lesions, mrsa is a reasonable cause. Once treated, you are unlikely to be a chronic carrier of the same germ.Retesting is not routine.Mrsa is so common now you could easily acquire a new strain within days or weeks.
