Bending knee pain: This could be an indication of osteoarthritis, tendon injury, patellar diseasis , etc. An examination by your physician is a good first start as well as a set of x-rays.

Patella-femoral synd: 25 yo female c/o aching knees might have genu varus or genu valgus; causing abnormal patella-leg bones alignments. Potentiating causal factor might be underlying Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS). Study the Brighton Criteria. Many Rheumatologists discount JHS so avoid them. An Osteopath can discern. Wise podiatrist might be helpful. Non-weight bearing exercise (swimming) helpful. Avoid surgeons.

Condromalacia: The most common knee problem/pain is condromalacia. This is easily treated and healed by the Physical Therapist.

: See a doc for a proper evaluation. The cited injury and symptoms are not conclusive. This may be a simple self resolving problem (doubt) , one that needs physical therapy or one that needs surgery. Treatment is most often successful early before deterioration of the joint sets in.

The tear: Think answered you but a root tear implies you tore the anchor portion of the meniscus.  Root tears usually occur at the posterior (back) horn.  These can be bad tears.  You probably will need surgery to debride the tear.
