May be a problem: The color of poop is derived from the bile added in transit through the gut. If your baby is not adding bile, it may be white. That suggests a blockage in the process that could be serious. I would take the kid in at the soonest possible visit to have this checked out. If there is a blockage called biliary atresia  the sooner it is confirmed &amp; treated the better the outcome.

Normal variation: The main agent adding color to the poo is the material made by the liver called bile. It starts out a dark green and goes thru the yellows to brown depending on the influences of various factors in the intestines. Rapid transit thru the system, as may occur with diarrhea or breast feeding may have a greenish yellow or yellow appearance. The slower, more likely browner.

Internal bleeding: Bleeding from the rectum (when you poo) is never normal and needs to be evaluated by a GI dr.  Gi bleeding may be casude by many things from simple hemmorhoids to possible serious issues like GI cancers.  See GI for an eval now.  Good luck.

Soft stools: Can be a sign of illness, but will usually be accompanied with nausea, possibly vomiting, abdominal pain and malaise. Also will likely be frequent or multiple soft to watery stools. If only one or two, and no other symptoms, may be a change in your diet causing it. If it persists for more than two weeks, you should be see by a doctor

It starts out an intense green & over time may change thru yellow & brown. The germs of the intestine convert the pigment as it transits the digestive tract. The less germ action the less color change. Diarrhea is often a greenish color for this reason.
