Unclear: This could mean a large number of things including anemia, infection etc. The reason it was ordered would possibly help me give a better answer.

Yes: Normal ESR and/or CRP suggest that the RA is under good control.

Impossible to say.: Both the ESR and CRP are very non specific tests.  They can alert you to the presence of something, but don't exactly point you in any direction.  Your symptoms and physical exam have to provide the clues as to where to go next.  If you have "nothing" wrong with you then I am afraid the tests are really quite useless.  If it is any help your numbers are not all that high.

How high?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, CRP and ESR are different tests and one can be elevated while the other is not. It would have helped had you provided the actual results.

Need more info: Pain where? You need to provide more specific info. The normal ESR makes an inflammatory process unlikely.

i recently had to take a blood test as part of a life insurance medical.  all results came out normal, apart from esr (60), and this resulted in raising my premium.  i dont suffer from any medical condition, so why might my esr level be so high?

You should discuss what might be causing it to be elevated with your doctor.
