: It means the urine dipstick test detects heavy (3+) occult blood. However, please note that dipstick test uses reagent to detect hemoglobin ( a chemical test) so positive occult blood is not always equal to the presence of red blood cells in the urine. Microscopic exam needs to be done to confirm the presence of red blood cells, i.e. true hematuria. More than 3 red blood cells/hpf is abnormal.

Clarification needed: Urinalysis typically measures urine acidity (ph), specific gravity, protein, glucose, ketones, bilirubin, nitrates/esterase (indicator for infection), and hemoglobin (indicator of red cells).  The values for these tests do not match up with your question, the only thing i can think of that matches up numerically on dipstick is protein (mg/dl) or glucose (mg/dl).  Please clarify.

Urine analysis: I betcha your UA is registering "epi" cells.  These are normal kidney or ureter or bladder or even vaginal cells. Sometimes the tech will report "squamous" cells. Urine pH is also reported but normal range is 5 to 7.  Shedding these cells is not particularly worrisome, but interpretation requires a reading of what else is in the urine and if an illness is apparent.  Suggest repeat and discussion
