Talk to urologists. : Watchful waiting may be perfectly reasonable, but there will always be a risk that the stone may obstruct, cause extreme pain, or become larger requiring a more invasive procedure later. If you work as a pilot, driver, or other such field, it would be advisable to get treatment early.  Talk with your urologist and come to consensus about when you'd pursue treatment for the stone.

Hydrate: My guess is you are probably doing this, but 48-64 ounces of water daily is truly important in kidney stone prevention.  Stay on the urocit.  Make sure you've had your stones qualified - you need to know what type of stones you make so treatment can be guided.  Uric acid stones are handled differently than calcium oxalate stones. An exam and an xray: Most patient's with kidney stones that have passed will have a follow up urinalysis, a guided physical exam and some sort of imaging study. It may be an xray, ultrasound or ct scan depending on any number of factors.

Kidney Stones: I presume that you passed your kidney stone.  What is more important is to find out why you are forming kidney stones.  Please have your primary care physician to refer you to a nephrologist who is a kidney stone expert.  Kidney stone work-up usually involves having 24 hr urine collections to see why you are forming stones.

Future: A 6mm stone is unlikely to pass on own, so many people opt for lithotripsy to break it up before you have a problem. Also a good idea to establish a relationship with a urologist if problems arise in the future

: A "kidney stone of 1.5 cm" is a large stone in the pelvis of the kidney.  This size stone is unlikely to be transmitted to the ureter intact, but fragments of this stone can be, which can cause significant pain/discomfort.  Removal of the large stone will not prevent future stones from forming, but will avoid episodes of pain by fragments in the ureter.  Get second opinion from another urologist.
