i would like to know what causes a boil?

Boil: A boil is a skin abcess caused by bacteria, usually staphyllococcus,invading the skin tissue. The body reacts by forming pus causing swelling,redness and tenderness. The abscess swelling must be relieved by either it spontaneously discharging the abscess contents or by having an incision performed by a physician or surgeon.

do boils leave a mark like its still a boil and you can feel it ?

See below: After an infection, skin changes can occur with increased and decreased pigmentation and sometimes changes in sensitivity.  However, if you feel like the boil may be deeper still, see you doc.

See a doctor: Do not allow this to progress unimpeded and undiagnosed.  Get seen, diagnosed and managed.  Hope this clears up soon.

Recheck: It is possible there is still some of the boil present within the area so that may make it difficult to heal.  It should probably be re-examined.

Get seen by doctor: Go and be examined.  No way short of this to know what is going on.  Do not ignore this advice since even a boil in that area can turn into something quite severe.

Pressure & erosion: Likely a combination of processes. An infection or inflammed area exudes chemical messengers that draw white blood cells in to do battle, so fluid builds up. Also, one way the body trys to heal itself is by drainage of what it can, so the tissues thin and rupture to let the pus/fluid/infection out.
