Common finding: This is a common finding in many kids who receive the MMR. It is a sign the weakened virus in the vaccine did its job well and the kid had a minor rash in response.The real thing would have been 20X worse. The lump is a reactive lymph node and will reduce in size within 2-3 wks.You might call the office to have the experience recorded in the chart, but I wouldn't worry about going in.

Evaluation : Please see your physician, this may represent a vaccine reaction. Other possible causes include non vaccine related allergic reaction.  On the weekend, Pediatric urgent care is available. Please be seen right away. They will evaluate him for the use of an antihistamine, once he has been seen.

no: The wakefield study linking the vaccine and autism has been shown to be false. Research shows that the rate of autism in unvaccinated children is the same as those who receive immunizations. The low rates of illness since we started with shots have made some parents think these conditions aren't serious but these illness can cause disability and death.Reason.

In : In 1998, a doctor by the name of andrew wakefield published a study in the lancet journal implicating a relationship between the MMR vaccine and autism.  Wakefield's study was found to be fraudulent, the data was manipulated and the study was retracted by the lancet in 2004.  Dr. Wakefield even had his medical license revoked for unethical practices.

After this study was published in 1998, it spurred tons of research looking in to whether the relationship between vaccines and autism could be true.  There have been well over 100 large-scale studies and evidence reviews looking at the relationship between vaccines and autism and every single one of those studies has shown that vaccines (including the mmr) do not cause autism.

Below, i've linked to 3 websites that discuss this controversy and the research involved in-depth.  I will also add that i vaccinated my own child on the schedule recommended by the center for disease control and american academy of pediatrics without any hesitation.

Rash: This is not a normal reaction from either of those vaccines.  I would suggest you take a picture of the rash and follow up with your Doctor.

Wouldn't count on it: Any such information wherever you found it is little more than speculation at this point. The viruses involved are quite different &amp; antibodies triggered by a vaccine are selective to the type of stimulus it responds to (here MMR). Much like puzzle pieces if it is not the same puzzle, a piece may come close but not actually fit.

They hurt: That's about all i can think of.Vaccine development and use has been so successful over the past 4 decades that most never consider the small coffins they prevented from use. Today more folks are worried about how much they hurts or false bs about misterious illnesses than the deadly diseases they prevent.
