Augmentin: Amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) may be prescribed to treat urinary tract infections. However, are you sure you have a urinary tract infection? Is the organism known?  Please don't taken antibiotics unless directed to do so by a health care provider.

: Antibiotics are selected based on urine studies, cultures specifically. Trying to find the reason for recurrent infections would be best and work up would be needed. There are no meds that are best for UTI otherwise.

Call the pharmacist.: I'm guessing you have found some Cipro (ciprofloxacin) with an "expired" date on the label. Check with the pharmacist to see how much lee-way you have here. If the medication is really too old, you won't do yourself any favor by taking it. Worst case: you may help bacteria become resistant to the antibiotic. Flush your system out with water as you make your call!

Epididymitis infec-: tion.  Please continue to see your doc and do what he/she says.  Consider using natural antimicrobials such as olive leaf extract and/or colloidal silver.  A natural doc or practitioner can guide you in the use of those things.  Peace and good health.  Probiotics are helpful w/antibiotics but get multiple strain ones, not one or two strains w/high numbers.

i'm on a long term course of cipro (500 2x day) for a stubborn uti. would this medication affect the results of a trichomoniasis test? thx?

: Trichomonas is usually diagnosed by a "wet smear" under a microscope.  Ciprofloxin or other quinolone antibiotics do not treat trichomonas, and a repeat urine culture/sensitivity is needed to determine an appropriate antibiotic for a "persistent UTI".
