? iron ?: What about a copper IUD makes you think it has any iron involved, or anything to do with your hair ? These products have been around since the 70's and are made of copper (not iron). Your hair issue is something unrelated. Please see your primary doc or a dermatologist to sort that out.

Dandruff shampoo: Regular washes with dandruff shampoo are the best way to prevent dandruff.  You may need to shower daily or even twice a day.  In order to make your hair thick, eat well (fruit, vegetables, and protein) and take a multivitamin.  If that doesn't work, you might try taking Folic Acid or biotin which are essential ingredients for hair growth.  Thyroid or other medical problems may also thin hair.

Hair loss: Ask your pharmacist if elmiron (pentosan) causes hair loss. If they say it is possibly the result of elmiron (pentosan) please call your doctor soon. No harm should come from a day or two not taking the med before you can see your doctor.

: Supplements such as that are not investigated by government agencies and MDs are reluctant to endorse them as they may contain contaminants that could interact with medications or cause harmful side effects. Also doses are too variable and claims of efficacy aren't validated. Your pharmacist may have some information about this supplement.

: Hard to objectify, and would urge a full pituitary reserve study and endocrine screen.  Typically empty sella syndrome is NOT associated with change in pituitary function; and intracranial hypertension (Pseudotumor Cerebri) can be secondary to hormonal or endocrine causation and this may well be the direction to pursue.

Rogaine, (minoxidil) Propecia: The only two hair growth products currently on the market with real clinical data to support their use are rogaine (minoxidil) (topical) and Propecia (oral). They work by different mechanisms, so I have my patients use both. Rogaine (minoxidil) is otc, Propecia requires a prescription. The downside is that insurance seldom pays for either one; but Propecia is about to go generic, which should lower the price.
