im 16 and i have eye floaters in both eyes. the eye doc didnt see anythimg and wasnt worried. what could cause this? i have perfect vision too.

Cells or Vitreous: Floaters are either comprised of cells or components of the gel like substance inside the eye called Vitreous Humor. What you are actually seeing is the shadows cast by the floaters on your retina.  I am glad you have seen your eye doctor.  Here is a good website that explains it further:

About floaters...: Floaters are due to imperfections in the clear gel inside the eyeball, and tend to become noticeable as a person ages. Floaters occur in many people, and sometimes are more noticeable if one is looking at a plain blank surface such as a blue sky. Large numbers of floaters, noticeably increasing floaters, flashes of light, changes in vision clarity, etc., can be evaluated by an MD eye doctor.

Probably nothing: Sounds like typical floaters due to the normal liquifying of the vitreous gel. But go to ophthalmologist to rule out rarer stuff.

Should move. : This is from a posterior vitreous detachment.  The gel inside your eyes, vitreous, has partially liquefied & is pulling away from the retina which lines the back of your eye. This is a normal with aging.  This causes floaters. The only concern is if it begins to pull on the retina & tears it.  Retinal tears can lead to retinal detachment & blindness. Go to your doctor immediately if you start to.

Maybe: You can have a retinal tear or even a retinal detachment and still have "perfect vision" if your macula is not detached.  Part of your peripheral vision may be affected, like a curtain obscuring part of your vision, is a common sign. If you have a lot of floaters, a large floater, flashes of light or loss of vision, than you should be seen by an ophthalmologist and have a dilated retinal exam.

Medications: Although migraine can cause bad headaches and visual issues, true visual floaters would not be related.  See an eye specialist, or neurologist, and get this all clarified, as preventative meds may help.

See an eye doc ASAP: It sounds like you had a vitreous detachment (pvd)which is very common after age 50 or earlier if the person is myopic or had h/o an eye trauma.  90% people of the time the person has no issue except floater and occasional flashes for 2-4 months.  About 10% of the patients may develope retinal tear or detachment.  Since you have a new symptoms with periph shadow you need to see an ophth
asap.

No worries: Please learn to ignore it.  It has been the same for 13 years without any other problem. If its confirm to be a floater then it is harmless.  If you get suddenly many new floaters with flash of light or part of vision lost then you need to see an ophthalmologist asap.  There is no need to have surgery for a floater.  Vitrectomy is a very involve & invasive surgery with high risk and complication.

no pvd.  have eye floaters.  lasted several seconds.  both eyes, entire field of vision.

Likely migraine: While your symptoms are similar to those of retinal detachment which could be a big deal, the fundamental symptoms for you are bilateral (both eyes).  Retinal detachment is extraordinarily rare in both eyes and quite uncommon at your age.  Visual migraines are mostly both eyes, with symptoms typical of those you describe.  If these persist, see your ophthalmologist to confirm this.
