Constipation: Sounds like you're very constipated.  In the long term, adding more fiber to your diet and drinking more water are essential to prevent this from happening. For now, try taking an over the counter stool softener like Miralax (polyethylene glycol). You can take this twice a day until you are moving your bowels, then taper it back to once daily or once every other day to keep regular.

Change in diet: If there is change in dietary habit, for example reduced fiber intake might be the reason for it.
As long as you have bowel movement and no associated bloating or pain, just increase fiber intake. If there is associated symptoms or causing to have discomfort, people may have spastic bowel may present with constipation. Consult your doctor for further evaluation or treatment.

You see there are a lot of factors involved including your dietary habbits, your work schedule, physical activity level and not drinking enough fluids. Some people just have slow motility of bowel. Remember to add a daily fiber supplement to your diet, which may improve your bowel habbits too.

Irritable bowel?: This may be a variant of irritable bowel syndrome.  Make sure you have enough fiber in your diet or take a fiber supplement like metamucil.

Get your abdomen a rest, work out other parts of your body in the meantime, ; when resuming know your limits (when it hurts, stop)--pain does not make gain! however, don't ignore symptoms if they worsen or persist more than a few days.

In addition to eating fiber,drinking adequate fluids&amp;exercising regularly,try taking a daily bowel stimulant like senokotS per instructions. If you have the urge but can't go, insert dulcolax suppository

Breast fed : Babies can go 7 days without a bowel movement .Just be sure the stomach is not distended , tender to touch or having bloody stools , fussy or febrile , vomiting or lethargy.Some babies go beyond that .If concern, please consult with your pediatrician.

Not normal...: The normal range of bm frequency is from 3 stools bms per day to 1 bm every 3 days.  Your frequency falls outside the range of normal.  The longer the stool sits in the colon is associated with greater risk of colon cancer.  I suggest you eat more fiber, get more active, drink more water or use a gentle laxative to have more frequent bms.  You may want to see a gastroenterologist. Good luck!
