Typically, before statins are started, a sincere attempt at lifestyle changes, including avoiding saturated fats&amp; exercising (atleast walking even 10,000 steps/day) ought to be undertaken. Recheck fasting lipids 6 months later. No egg yolks, no shellfish; eat salmon, almond/walnut (Incr. HDL)

It depends ...: The risk of rupture of an ascending aortic aneurysm is affected by things like the diameter, how fast it is growing, underlying connective tissue problems (marfan syndrome, bicuspid aortic valve, etc), blood pressure, and things like that. You should consult a physician to help deterine the most appropriate therapy for you - surgery or medical therapy with regular follow up.

See below: An ultrasound will detect most abdominal aortic aneurysms if it's technically good (i.e. no overlying bowel gas). The radiologist will generally comment on the quality of the study. An echocardiogram can generally detect a thoracic aortic aneurysm. A CT angiogram can reliably detect either but there is a radiation dose. A non-contrast MRI isn't the test of choice.

: It is best you do not worry. It is important to find out how big it from those that did the test, they know when it is time to do something about it based on the size. It is a situation of enlargement like ballooning of the major blood vessels from the heart due to weakening of the muscles and may be due to high pressure is why I say not to worry. It could burst and cause bleeding is a danger.

Depends: What part of your aorta? What size? Do you have Marfan's, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, annulo-aortic ectasia, or family hx of aortic aneurysm or sudden or unexpected death?
