Depends : Depends on breastfeeding. If you are not breastfeeding it may take as little as 4-6 weeks to return to baseline hormone levels. However if breastfeeding, it may take months and baseline hormone levels may not return until breastfeeding is stopped.

Not much: so long steroids were tapered right, you might need still stress dosing if going through surgery or if you acquire severe infection for some time after stopping the steroids, more important though are the other effects of steroids on your body, especially eyes and bones, also your blood pressure, and your blood sugar metabolism,  you need to keep following with your doctor, and endocrinologist

Accepted Answer

Few weeks at most: Your ovaries begin to function again within a week or two after stopping birth control pills. They should be functioning normally within a few weeks at most. If you don't begin having regular periods after a month or two, it  may mean you are not ovulating on your own. That would be a reason to see your gynecologist.

can estrogen patch be taken while on depo shot? to regulate hormones. & if not.. what other option is there..? (can't take pills)

Accepted Answer

Yes.: Estrogen is occasionally given to women who are using a long acting contraceptive like depo provera to stop break thru bleeding.  It could be used safely to treat other symptoms also.  Their are other long acting options like mirena (levonorgestrel) or nexplanon if you continue to have problems.  Hope this helps.

i am on the depo shot and is there a way i can take estrogen too? is it possible to take an estrogen cream or something to regulate hormones?

Yes, but ...: If you are going to do that then why don't you just take a BCP which contains a known fixed combination of estrogens and progesterones. Discuss the different ones with your doc.

ok i have pcos is there anything i can take that will balance my hormones and/or  regulate my cycle?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Go see your doctor and ask.  There are two meds we commonly give women with pcos.  Both are prescription.  If your doctor doesn't know, ask for a referral to someone who does.  Good luck.

OCPs: In 5-7 days the hormone levels should adjust. It would have been more helpful to know what were you taking and what did you switch to.

: You may wish to consult your obstetrician for further guidance. Certainly if you are not trying to get pregnant, you should employ some effective form of birth control until you sort all this out

Anxiety: If you are having insomnia and anxiety, and have an infant, please call your Obstetrician or primary care doctor.    You deserve to feel well and to be at your best, both for yourself and your family.

hi i have irregular periods my lh 14 and raised e2. dr told to take primolut n for 21 days.in how many will it regulate my hormones?

PCO syndrome: You might not have provesterone deficiency but polcystic ovary, nite the high lh.  You might need metformin instead.  My cat says hi.
