CRACKS MOUTH CORNERS: Without looking i couldn't be sure, but it sounds as if you have a condition called, angular stomatitis or perleche. Often due to a yeast infection. Stop chewing gum, use a mild toothpaste (tom's of maine is a good one); don't eat raw fruit without cutting it up. A prescription product called mycolog cream can sometimes help.

MeticulousCareNeeded: This is fairly common. First decide if you are eating any foods that irritate your mouth or lips. Do you get chapped lips fairly often? Does saliva collect in the corners of your mouth? Do you work outdoors or in the wind?Well, you get the drift. Next try to keep the corners of your mouth dry and protected from saliva and use a topical steroid and antibacterial ointment and Chap-Stick.

Cracking tmj: Hi YAbbas, if by "cracking" you mean a popping noise, then this is suspicious for temporomandibular disorder (TMD).  Causes usually include trauma, behavioral factors, posture, ticks,and dental structure. It can be diagnosed easily by your doctor. Treatment is based around limiting pain. Your doctor should advise you on the best non-pharmacologic treatments to start.

Moisturize: Due to the chemicals in the pool water, and also possibly your own skin 'makeup', you may be more prone to having the sides of your lips 'crack'.  Simply using a waterproof lip balm will greatly help.  You must keep your lips moisturized, as they are drying out, which is causing the problem. A dentist can also prescribe a medicine if it's a fungal infection that can often be the culprit.
