:    I presume they are 4 pills of azithromycin of 250 mg each.  If so, you are supposed to take 4 pills at once.  In case of swallowing difficulty of pill, pills can be substituted by resuspended liquid form.  You can get detailed  information from your pharmacist who filled your prescription.

: You could crush the pills if they are not the extended release pills , but dissolve them only in foods or drinks which do not contain significant amount of calcium and magnesium , like milk .Applesauce is  a convenient way to take it.

i was prescribed 2 500mg azithromycin tablets 1 time use for chlamydia and i crushed them and put them in capsules and took them that way but a little bit of the powder was left and little bit fell out most of the pill fit will it still work properly?

Chlamydia: The 1000 mg dose is not exactly rocket science and there is a good possibility that you have taken enough of the prescribed dose.  I believe that you could be tested in a week to determine whether you're clear of the infection.

Should cure: You should be cures with the antibiotics as long as your partner also gets treated. You should get checked for cure in 3-4 weeks.

: Milk will not prevent absorption of the azithromycin.  See your GYN physician for guidance, as chlamydia may cause scarring in the Fallopian tubes which may cause difficulty in conceiving.

See answer: It is recommended to abstain from sexual contact for 7 days after treatment for Chlamydia. Oral transmission of Chlamydia can and does occur but is less common than other routes. Symptoms usually include sore throat and sometimes flu-like symptoms within 1-3 weeks. Given your history and the above facts, I feel the risk of transmission is likely quite low, though relaying this info recommended.

I would retake it: There may be a chance you cured it by taking it the way you did, but you are right you didn't take them the way it is prescribed. To be on the safe side, i would take it again correctly.

Yes, &amp; so should he!: Treatment may be quick &amp; simple, but it may take several days before all the germs die. After treatment, you remain potentially infectious for up to 7 days, and should not engage in sex until then. He is at high risk; you may be at risk, too, if you acquired new infection - more likely if not practicing safe sex. So both of you should be re-checked. Next time, Play it Wise &amp; Safe.

i took the chlamydia pills and it was two a day but two days after i had finishe slept with someone who was infected yet, are we still okay?

Accepted Answer

Of course not: There is no warranty or defense shield provided by antibiotics. If you finish treatment and get re-exposed, you can get the infection (and possibly additionals) again. Both partners need to be disease free for safe sex and using condoms for safe sex w/o risk of pregnancy.
