This is because the 3% number includes women who use assisted reproductive technology like IVF (they have higher rates of twins). The fact that you recently stopped birth control does not change your chance of having twins.

ABSOLUTELY: That can happen, if you are worried and do not want to be preg u can do the morning after pill , the common otc ones can be taken up to 72 hrs after intercourse.

I : I can understand your concern.  If a patient has been on birth control, there can be a waiting period while the body begins ovulating (forming eggs) again.  This period varies from woman to woman.  You will most likely begin ovulating soon.  You are most likely to conceive in the time-frame from 10-14 days after the first day of your last period.  After intercourse, stay in bed on your back with your knees up for 15 minutes or so to help retain the semen.  Be sure you are at a healthy weight, not too high or too low as either can affect ovulation.  If you don't get pregnant in the next few months, see your gynecologist for an evaluation.

Not available: There is no drug that is used for increasing the chance for twinning.  Twin pregnancies are inherently more risky and more complicated.  It is much safer for mom and babies o have singleton pregnancies.

Takes time: Once a woman is trying to conceive, the chance of pregnancy per cycle is 15-20%.  About 80% of women will be pregnant by the end of one year.  It sounds like you are having regular periods, so it being only 3 months since you stopped bcp and started trying and aren't pregnant yet is normal.  Give yourself a little more time.

Irregular menses: I assume when you say normal periods that were regular for 3 months and then the last period was 5 days late, but you did have one.  A late menses can be due to a number of factors: including pregnancy, hormonal factors, stress and others.   If the pregnancy test is negative one can continue to observe,.  If your next period is irregular or late an appointment with your doctor.

i just had twin boys via cesarean section and got the mirena iud as birth control i've had it for almost 2 month. and have been experiencing bleeding non stop no pain or anything just annoying bleeding is this cuz of my cesarean or cuz my iud?

The IUD: Mirena (levonorgestrel) is a progestin only method. As such, irregular bleeding is very common. For the first 3 to 6 months with Mirena (levonorgestrel)
• Your period may be less predictable than usual
• Bleeding and spotting may increase and continue to be irregular. Periods over time may become shorter, lighter or even stop
• Your periods may stop altogether for as long as you have Mirena (levonorgestrel)

Depends: If you stop your birth control at the end of the pack, after your placebo pills, you should ovulate about 9-14 days after and then period should start about 28 days later.
