See below: There are many causes of frequent daytime and nighttime urinary frequency with overactive bladder a possibility IF all other causes have been ruled out by proper evaluation. Given degree of your frequency associated with dry mouth and thirst, I would be much more concerned about the possibility of diabetes and/or other medical problem causing your symptoms. Recommend see an MD as soon as possible!

HFM Dis. treatment: HFM disease being a viral infection, resolves on its own without treatment in most cases. There are some strains of this virus that cause a more serious clinical picture needing closer monitoring for any complication.
Acyclovir, an antiviral agent gen used in severe Herpes and Varicella cases, is not a standard therapy for HFM dis but may have worked in your son's case for developing complication.
