Skin flora: Skin flora are bacteria that are normally found living on our skin. When present in a urine culture, it typically means that the specimen was contaminated (e.g., the urine touched something before it got into the sterile specimen cup). I would recommend a repeat culture, using a catheterized specimen if possible.

Q: can fungal skin infections affect wbc?

Not usually: Fungal skin infections usually don't affect the white blood cell count.

Q: i have folliculius or skin infection for 1 year? i take keflex, but it wont kill it completely. works then body must get used to it. wbc 3.4.anyadvice

WBC more info: Is there a differential? While the WBC is just slightly low, it may not be a problem. Is there a differential? Have you seen a dermatologist?

Need to be examined!: Neck symptoms and low WBC may not be related. Often times patients test results return with mildly low WBC or lymphocytes. It depends on how much lower than normal they are. Mildly low counts can be "normal" for some patients. If a patient has neck/spine pain and fever he or she needs to be examined by a physician. Don't try to self-diagnose these symptoms. See a primary care physician soon.

Can you explain?: What kinds of infections, Champ? If you're getting rashes, you need to get the cause diagnosed. Everybody gets minor infections fairly often. Signs of immunodeficiency would be a few episodes of pneumonia, meningitis or vicious soft tissue infection landing you in the hospital. If you're getting skin allergy / contact dermatitis, a cause needs to be identified. Dermatology consult is in order.

Chicken or egg?: Who came first? The rash or taking the penicillin. If the rash came after starting penicillin, you could be reacting to the medication. If you had all the abnormal test results prior, the medication should help control the infection. Hives and eczema itch more in hot water, try to take short and tepid showers.

Possibly: Elevated leukocytosis,or increased white blood cell count, can be due to infection or acute stress reaction. Various conditions can cause pruritic skin rash, such as eczema, urticarial reaction, infection, psoriasis, vasculitis, or purpura. To find the exact etiology of your skin rash, examination, evaluation and test with your physician is recommended.

Q: my lymph reading is 4.2 , wbc is 10.8 , platelet is 337 and thyroid is 3.58 , i am a female of 29 years old. have dry skin and high hair fall.?

Subclinical LoThyroi: Based on your symptoms and blood work, it looks like you might have subclinical hypothyroidism. I suggest seeing a physician who specializes in thyroid (endocrinologist) for an evaluation and more comprehensive blood work.

WOW: Quite a plethora of symptoms, findings. Not sure if all connected. I would start with that ischemia see if it is real or not . See your doctor sounds like few more tests need to be done + good exam/ sounds like a case for dr. House, md./ some medications and certain foods can cause odors. Anything?
