Yes: Although it is unusual for HPV induced genital warts to spread to other skin sites, they can spread to mucous membranes and also to the vocal cords. SO, if you have active genital lesions, partner should avoid oral sex. Also can transmit to infant during birth, so make sure to tell OB if you have lesions and you are pregnant. Then you both can discuss options to reduce risk of transmission.

HPV and our bodies: Hpv can infect and appear on any part of one's body.  There are many strains of this common virus. But, thirteen of the strains can cause cancer in the cervix, the rectum and throat.

These thirteen strains are not equal. At this point we believe that four of the strains cause 95% of the cancers.  These four strains are the main strains of hpv that gardisil, the hpv vaccine prevents.

Possible , but : Not likely. Warts or  papillomas are  caused by hpv virus, ned repeated contact , just causal is not enough for transmission , due to genetic variation , usually confines to its own location cleanliness and good hygiene are best preventive measures , vaccination for young females is to prevent cervical cancer.

: I think that it is possible to spread the virus in that manner. I wouldn’t take the chance. Probably not a good idea to shave near the wart and traumatize it in any way prior to receiving treatment to eliminate the wart.

: HPV strains are selective as to where they are found. Plantar wart strains are skin surface infestations and do not travel in your blood to other sites. Plantar wart strains are also not on the list associated with a high risk of cancer.
