Use an antifungal: Try spraying your shoes with an anti fungal and also using it on your feet.

Comfort and support.: Any shoe that gives you comfort and support are worth considering.  I usually recommend hiking shoes or running shoes.  Many brands have excellent choices.

Sounds like : Your feet "supinate". You could try an orthotic to attempt to rebalance your foot. There are different reasons for this but would need to examine in person to relay findings.

Good running store: There are many stores which specialize in both high quality shoes for active feet and in particular pride themselves on staffing with very knowledgable staff who are often runners or walkers themselves.  Such stores will often have indoor tracks, measuring equipment, even cameras to help find the perfect shoe for the unique needs of your feet.  Most cities have 1-2 of these- ask a friend who runs.

Possibilities: Corn/callus, wart, cyst or soft tissue growth. Can not be diagnosed without examination. See Podiatrist.

It has nothing: To do with your height. Sounds like you pronate. I have seen some therapists state that excercise (of post tibial tendon) can help strengthen arch. I am not sure if I believe that. I have not seen it personally. Another option may be to see a doctor who can put a device into your foot to hold up your arch. Sometimes referred to as subtalar arthroeresis.

Not to worry: If you work at some industrial plant then wear plant boots and switch to "civilian" shoes at home. Otherwise, don't sweat it. Think about all the times an infant is crawling around and puts stuff in it's mouth. We're built to survive!
