Depends: It depends on the size of the clot and how much it affects blood flow, as well as how much reserve you have. I've seen cancer patients that were otherwise healthy with massive clots, detected incidentally on a screening ct - otherwise, felt fine. On the other hand, i've seen small clots that have laid elderly patients low.

Pneumonia : Pain in lungs is common with pneumonia. Did they say what kind of pneumonia it was? How old are you? X-ray done? Rarely underlying cancer is a concern. Consult with us to help solve this issue.

Not necessarily : Causes or aggravation  of lung cancer may include breathing polluted air, but I suspect different  lung conditions than cancer would result from highly polluted area. You should exercise outside, but wear a good mask is you are concerned. Smoking tobacco would be worse.

Not enough info: This is impossible to answer without specific data as to chest film, ct scan and pulmonary function test results. Maybe your lung disease is not as severe as you have been told. Address this question with the doctor who treats you for this problem.

my boyfriend is in the hospital with a collaped lung. why does he sound so out of it and why wont they let him get up and walk around??

Mgt: During the treatment, a chest tube may be required, and this can decrease his mobility during the initial recovery. Does he have a fever? infection, prolonged cough? His physicians and nursing staff may be able to provide you with information regarding his oxygenation.

Anxiety: You seem to be suffering from anxiety if your doctor is saying your lungs are ok. Certainly other conditions can cause shortness of breath, but you describe a particular preoccupation with your breathing.

Pneumonia: There are many different types of pneumonia, but generally speaking at age 22 and 2 months after a bout of pneumonia, you really should not be short or breath or having painful respirations (dyspnea).  Make sure you follow up with your dr, assure the infection is totally resolved, and that you do not have any other underlying lung disorders.  Best wishes.

Doctor can evaluate: Chest tightness, chest pain, and shortness of breath can be due to minor problems or to very serious ones. A doctor can check to see what might be going on. Sometimes, tests and chest xrays will be done. Possible causes include a partial pneumothorax (collapsed lung), asthma, reflux, heart problems, vocal cord problems, etc...

Veins vs Arteries: You are young to have arterial problems but it is possible.  If you are walking and get pain,  sit down and put your legs up and this eliminates the pain-it may be vein disease and can be fixed. www.phlebology.com - see a vein doctor for venous doppler ultrasound exam to treat. If you stop for a couple minutes and rest and this claudication goes away, it could be arteries. Need tests.
