Could be: Sometimes the medications for lymphoma, or the disease itself can cause abnormal clotting so that nose bleeds become more common.

i have been having heavy migraines during the day - for the past 5 days. i wake up with a headache, it progresses to migraines. by 8am i have to lie down or sleep. waking up makes me feel worse. lying down feels better, had a bloody nose too?

Different: If this is new or different than your typical migraine, then time to get checked out.  I typically advise patients to call the office if the migraine does beyond 48 hours.  There are a number of headache rescue therapies available.

Can vary: This can be due nasal irritation or with dryness of the air. If you live or stay in an arid environment this can be a cause.Smokers can have nasal irritation that may cause this problem. Need a nasal exam by ENT to determine the exact cause and treatment. Picking ones nose or infection can also do this,.

: Since you never irritated your nose by picking it or being hit in it from a punch   or a sports injury, that's why. No previous infection of nasal passages or high blood pressure is also another reason.  Stay healthy.

Bloody nose: Worry about a bloody nose if it is occurring several times a week, for no apparent reason or if you are taking medications that may interfere with clotting, such as aspirin, Motrin or Ibuprofen containing  products. Any regular nose bleeds should prompt you to see your primary physician.

Pressure and time: It depends on where the bleed is coming from; the front vessels or the back. Tilt the head forward to avoid swallowing blood, put steady pinching pressure on the bridge of the nose just below the bony ridge. what could cause frequent bloody nose in teen?

Accepted Answer

: It is due to the fragility of the vessels, called Kiesselbach plexus, which supply blood to the anterior inferior (lower front) quadrant of the nasal septum. This nosebleed is quite common, exacerbated with dry air. If bleeding is too frequent and bothersome, that plexus can be cauterized by an ENT doctor. Apply bland ointment like K-jelly to that location may be helpful as a prevention.

Blood is coming from: Your nose. Possible reasons: nasal congestion or nasal dryness, ^ blood pressure, excessive use of decongestants, being at ^ altitude, trauma to nose, nose picking, or blowing the nose hard. Bacterial & viral infections can ^ risk as well as bleeding disorders.  Recurrent nose bleeds may be due to broken vessel in the nose. Alcohol / Cocaine abuse can cause nose bleeds, as can tumors.
