Back pain: I understand you're having back pain radiating to your chest. Doubt it has to do with the exposure to fan, but it sounds like a common misbelief in certain ares of the world. Anyway, i would not recur to injectables at this time. Voltren gel may be ok to try. Any muscle rub can potentially help. Local heat may be tried or heat and then ice applications each for 5 minutes at a time may be tried.

Costochondritis the is localized to the area and the pain increase by movement of the chest.
Disc hernia have numbness at the level of the disc and dose not get effected by chest movement.

Sure rib?: Left upper pain in chest,I would worry about heart and lungs also.Did you have any trauma to to the area and does it get worse with movement then likely muscleskeletal.Deep breath make it hurt I would be concerned on lungs-especially if short of breath.I would go to see your primary to get checked out.If just soreness could be inflammation of the cartilage but why take chances.
