Cholesterol: Hdl levels &gt;60mg/dl are good, 36-59 acceptable and 190 is very high.  The vldl normally ranges between 5 - 40 mg/dl. But to understand this you must have triglyceride levels, total cholesterol and a full detailed medical history and exam.

Diet and exercise: Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco in any form and do take any more than one drink on a given day.

You should be doing the things you can to improve your risk factors, including a heart healthy low fat diet, regular aerobic exercise, not smoking etc.  If you profile doesn't improve, medication will likely be needed (statin), or should be started now if you have other risk factors.

No drug: Your numbers are acceptable and don't require drug treatment. Avoidance of alcohol, animal fats, daily exercise,  and control of blood sugar will correct your TG.  A vitamin: Niacin, would also lower your TG (1, 000 to 2, 000 mg daily).

Many causes possible: High triglycerides can be caused by many problems including: familial genetic problems, obesity, high fat diet, alcohol intake, oral contraceptives, metabolic syndrome (insulin resistance), low thyroid, certain medications (hiv meds, steroids, cyclosporin, tamoxifen), kidney disease (nephrotic syndrome).  You need to see your doctor for a complete evaluation.
