i am on the vivelle (estradiol) patch .025 and my doctor just upped my dose to .050. my question is can i wear 2 of the .025 patches at the same time?

Yes: If you are wanting to use up patches you already have, then you can do it. It's more expensive that way, so as soon as you see them up, start the higher dose patch.

i'm 11.5 week pregnant from ivf i just realized i was supposed to stop vivelle (estradiol) patch 20days ago is the baby safe? is the damage already done?

Can't say: You need to contact the MD who is taking care of your pregnancy (OB MD) to ask this question who will know your entire history and why the patch was prescribed.

started bio hrt cream 3 days ago. have hot flushes, chills anxiety, nausea.  was on vivelle (estradiol) patch for 11 years before this. should i go back to vivell?

Need more time.: Hard to say if the new regimen is a failure yet. I suggest continuing the new regimen for at least 2-3 weeks before deciding that it doesn't work for you. Good luck.

If u have a uterus: What Progesterone on u on because u need to be on both and if u were my pt would do a pelvic ultrasound to check the thickness of the endometrial lining.

Age 61: Please don't worry about having missed Vivelle (estradiol) patch on a day or so but don't let it go overboard.

Typical estrogen S.E: If you read the package insert most drug companies list a large number of possible side effects.  The most likely side effects can be related to the patch material itself including skin irritation, but other systemic effects include headache, nausea, mild increased risk of blood clot just to name a few.

Maybe: I often recommend this estrogen replacement.
It does not require liver transformation and may lower clot risk.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Strokes/ heart attacks have reported with estrogen and/or progestin therapy. Some studies showed a slight increase in risks of strokes while others indicate reduced risks. Its important that you  discuss any concerns with your physician . The risks/benefits should be addressed and other medical conditions including family history are reviewed before therapy is decided. Take care.

40yr female with regular 26 day cycle started using estrogen patch (vivelle (estradiol) 0.025) for severe pmdd. no period since (2 months). is est. the cause ?

May be: Why use vivelle (estradiol) for pmdd? You can use a very low dose 10 micrgram birth control pills and had an added benefit of preventing pregnancy since your period is still regular and still needs protection. The other possibility is, of course menopause. Check your fsh after several days off the patch.

Need to be careful: Vivelle is a patch that delivers a hormone called estradiol. Estradiol is a natural, bioidentical hormone. Even so, if you have breast cancer when you start vivelle, it can make the breast cancer much worse, just like your own natural Estradiol can make it worse. You should have a breast exam and a mammogram before starting. Also, if you have a uterus, you need to be on Progesterone with patch.
