Healthy diet: If your 15-year old is healthy and is eating a normal, healthy diet full of vegetables, fruits, proteins, and minimal amounts of junk food, he/she is receiving all the vitamins and minerals needed from his/her diet.  If this is a 15-year old female who has heavy menstrual cycles, her pediatrician may recommend a diet heavier in iron.  A healthy diet is better than any supplements.

Biotin: The most evidence for a vitamin that helps with hair growth and maintaining hair and nails is in taking biotin.  For an adult it is often dosed at 3, 000 - 5, 000 mcgs.

Yes, however...: Yes, these are safe, though I notice Neurogen E has the cyanocobalamin form of B12 and methylcobalamin is better. Look for a B complex that has the L-5-MTHF form of folate instead of folic acid,as about half of people have difficulty converting folic acid to its active form. E is best as a natural form with mixed tocopherols (not just alpha tocopherol).Consider Ashwagandha, a herb good for nerves.

No: Supplements are rarely good for anything. It is more important to find out why he has loss of weight and decreased appetite. See your doctor.

No such thing: Given your description, you need to keep the follow-up with your ophthalmologist and follow his advice/ prescription glasses and medicines, wish you wellness

Most likely-Yes: Certainly, all the meds, including vitamins and over the counter need to be discussed with her warfarin/coumadin coordinator.  Vit k, especially, which is a reversal agent used when the Coumadin "levels" are too high, will definitively interact with the Coumadin and make it difficult to manage properly.  As stated, discuss with the treating provider for continuity of care. Best wishes.

For : For the most part, there are very little differences between various one-a-day adult vitamins.  The age and gender specifications are more of a marketing thing.  He can take that vitamin safely.

Here : Here is a chart of the recommended nutritional requirement by the usda for various ages.  The good news  is that as long as a child eats a fairly balanced diet, they will get the vitamins and minerals they need to stay healthy.  Specific vitamin and mineral deficiencies are uncommon in developed countries where children have access to a variety of foods from the different food groups.
