Supplements and Acne: Hi, neither b complex or fish oil will cause acne. In fact, both of those can actually be beneficial to those suffering from certain types of acne. Having said that, neither of those will lead to weight gain either. Gaining good weight is a result of healthy eating of appropriate nutrients including proteins and "good" fats as well as an appropriate exercise regimen.

Yes, however...: Yes, these are safe, though I notice Neurogen E has the cyanocobalamin form of B12 and methylcobalamin is better. Look for a B complex that has the L-5-MTHF form of folate instead of folic acid,as about half of people have difficulty converting folic acid to its active form. E is best as a natural form with mixed tocopherols (not just alpha tocopherol).Consider Ashwagandha, a herb good for nerves.

There's no telling: Trying to figure out what's causing one to have acne is futile. Ignore all "pop" ideas and start using topical benzoyl peroxide 1-2x daily, perhaps 5%. It's not pleasant but it's your best friend. If it doesn't clear you, your physician can add prescription strength Rx. My acne remitted when I was 50; yours will too, someday. Until then, manage it like the serious medical problem that it is.

BP is better: Biotin and vitamin b complex are fine but don't expect a miracle when it comes to acne.  Benzoyl peroxide will give you better results by far.  If your skin is dry, use the cream.  If it's oily, use the gel.

Vitamins: Most physicians will tell you that the average diet in the usa provides you with all the vitamins you need. Others will endorse using vitamin e supplements for improvement of acne.  What you are taking should be sufficient.

Lower inflammation: There are two main focuses for acne: hormonal and inflammation. Often too much androgen hormones can be driving acne. A diet that keeps Insulin very low can be a major help. That's low grains and sugar. One supplement to look into to help in balancing this androgen overdrive is vitex or chaste tree which supports Progesterone levels. Fish oil is a big one for lowering inflammation.

: There are very good treatments that work for psoriasis and would use them first.  Beware of supplements as those who sell them do not have to prove they are either safe or effective. They often have stuff in them you may not want. Viagra, narcotics, licorice etc. See and be guided by a Dermatologist.

You can do better: Vitamins are unlikely to be nearly so beneficial as topical benzoyl peroxide at least twice daily for two weeks. If this is not enough to clear you, your physician is your best resource. Acne is a serious, chronic, non-lifestyle-related illness that can always be managed, though it is cured only by time. You owe it to yourself to get effective treatment.
