No : There is no link between vitamin b12 deficiency &amp; iron deficiency anemias. Only take iron therapy if proven iron deficient by laboratory testing.

: I believe that the combination of high MCV.&amp; low MCHC may occur with alcoholism and/ or alcoholic related liver disease. A hematologist could validate this opinion.

See your doctor: When evaluating for ms, your doctor will check for b-12 and vitamin d deficiencies, and these may all co-exist.  The diagnosis is further ruled in or out by MRI films and even spinal fluid analysis.  Raise these concerns with your neurologist and pursue the diagnoses.

Uncertain: Steroid is used to treat the immediate problem which vitamin d supplement would not solve. Whereas it is suspected that there is a link between vitamin d and ms, the link has not been totally proven although some centers have been pushing vit d3 in large doses as a way to reduce ms exacerbation.

Hypocalcemia : Vitamin B12 is not uncommonly encountered in clinical practice & can be do to lack of dietary intake or poor absorption from the GI track. Low calcium is less commonly encountered in clinical practice and always requires further medical evaluation. If both calcium and vit B12 are low, chances are other vitamins and minerals are low as well. This should be discussed with a doctor in person.

No: It is extremely unlikely that you could type a question or navigate an internet medicine app if you had B12 deficiency severe enough to provoke seizures. B12 supplementation is easy--eat animal protein at least once a day, or take a multivitamin daily. The multivitamin would also likely meet your vit d daily requirement; if not, work with your doctor to correct this deficiency. Good luck!

Intrinsic factor: Vitamin B12 is present in meat and animal protein foods. Absorption of B12 occurs in the intestine (ileum) and requires intrinsic factor (IF), made by stomach cells. In pernicious anemia, IF production is deficient, and results in anemia, a reduction in hemoglobin/hematocrit. One can be vitamin B12 deficient without becoming anemic and/or without having deficient IF. Best wishes:)
