Depends: Treatment of vertigo depends on the cause of it. Follow up with pcp for appropriate diagnosis. 
Medications such as Meclizine are good for acute symptoms. 
Early ambulation improves rate of recovery. Try rehabilitation exercises such as epley maneuver.

See your doctor: Vertigo can be caused by a number of things, and it should be evaluated by your doctor to localize the source of the issue, especially if it is new in onset, prior to determining what therapy is required.  See your doctor who can do a number of diagnostic tests to evaluate the  symptom.

Vertigo: Vertigo is a complex problem and not all vertigo is the same.  Treatment depends on the exact kind of vertigo. You could have BPPV or Meniere's disease.  You could be suffering with migraine headache.  Could be something neurologic or even just hyperventilation.  You need to be evaluated to determine the right diagnosis to be able to get to the correct treatment.  Good luck

Inner ear problem: The vestibular system includes the parts of the inner ear that help control balance. It becomes dysfunctional for genetic or environmental reasons, or from injury, disease or aging. You need vestibular rehabilitation which is a form of physical therapy. It can last several months.

seems to have left without any treatment. is this normal and can i expect a return?

See below: It's no better than placebo in the conditions it was tested for.  I couldn't find a study on vertigo and dmg.

Number of things: Vertigo could be from something dangerous or something benign such as inner ear problem.  Seeing your doctor is imperative!  most patients fear a stroke or aneurysm, but i would also point out that an ear condition called meniere's disease could lead to deafness if not properly treated.

i still get vertigo mostly after a cold since my first bout of labyrinthitis 15 years ago. should i seek vtr treatment? is my vestibularnerve damaged?

Vertigo is Rx: Dizziness is, as many symptoms, has multiple causes, I needed to know what was the first reason, and how it was treated. usually it has to do with the ear, I would treat for sinusitis 14 course and treat with anti vertigo medication during the day is different than at night and usually I had little or no recurrence in young people.
