hi! i have long term sleep seizures.now on vimpat (lacosamide) & clobazam. can you tell me of any pros/cons of both drugs? i take 600mg vim & 20mg clobazam nightly

taking topiramate (250mg 2x daily) and vimpat (lacosamide) (150mg 2x daily) and still getting bad migraines and generalized seizures. do i need to try diff drug?

See HA specialist: Once a diagnosis of migraine has been made, effective treatment involves 3 specific strategies: 1) patient education, 2) nonpharmacological 3) pharmacological (medical) management. Prophylactic therapy is recommended for the chronic and disabling migraine. Some migraine patients are prone to medication overuse headaches. See orofacial pain or headache specialist.

i am on keppra and am being switched to vimpat. i need to ween off the keppra but should i start the vimpat while i ween off the keppra? or should i completely ween off the keppra before starting the vimpat?

Your prescriber: Should be able to detail based on severity of your seizure disorder. Sometimes anti seizure meds are used concomitantly in combination in refractory cases.

can i take bendryl and vimpat (lacosamide)?

Likely fine: But, both might cause drowsiness, fatigue and dizziness as additive side effects.  However, vimpat (lacosamide) and Benadryl otherwise do not possess drug-drug interactions which would affect treatement success.  Might want to speak to your doctor about problems, if these are occurring.

Vimpat (lacosamide): It is Schedule 5 controlled substance  (less potential for abuse than the higher schedules 1-4).

female is 22. and takes vimpat (lacosamide) at night 10:30 pm.

No problem: melatonin at 1 milligram is an extremely low dose. May not do anything anyway. Even 5 milligram should not cause problems.

can i take vimpat (lacosamide) while being pregnant?

May be safest: Complex issue, but you do need your vimpat (lacosamide) to control seizures, and a convulsion during pregnancy can lead to a miscarriage.  Should not stop anti-epileptic meds when pregnant.  There is some remote risk of fetal malformations but is tolerable in general.  Discuss with your obstetrician, and neurologist.

can a person take lacosamide and smoke marijuana at the same time?

: No. Marijuana is a psychoactive drug and will mess with your brain and damage your lungs among other injury. MJ users are called stoners for good reason. Quit using it while you are ahead. Wish you good health!

Accepted Answer

Yes: The greater the number of seizure meds, the higher the chance for developmental problems, of course. But grand mal seizures are also quite bad for a developing baby...it's a balancing act with the meds.

i don't wanna get on anymore epileptic meds cuz i've tried them. i'm doing well with vimpat (lacosamide). wut other bipolar meds would work and has no weight gain?

Seizures: Some options are topamax, (topiramate) lamictal, neurontin. Discuss with your neurologist.
