upped my viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) from 20mg to 40mg 3 days ago. today it feels like the floor is swaying beneath my feet. i this a common or serious adverse reaction?

Worrisome: mostly because of the potential for falling and serious injury.  Although it may go away, you should contact your presciber about reducing the dose, for now.

cab taking sleep aids containing dyphenhydramine hydrochloride have adverse effects and can it cause frequent urination?

Maybe: Diphenhydramine (benedryl) is not a sleep aid, but an antihistamine. If allergy therapy is warranted and the secondary drowsiness helps to take the edge off, then improved sleep may be achieved. However, some folks excrete benedryl more slowly, and drowsiness may extend through the next morning and be detrimental to alertness. Also, bladder dysfunction occurs in a few patients.

i know brintellix and viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) are both very new.  is it safe to try such new medication without there being alot of studies done? side effects?

Yes: For a medication to be sold in the USA, it has to be approved by the FDA, (federal drug administration), which makes the Drug Co. go thru very rigorous trials to prove they are effective and "save" in human subjects. But as the drugs are tested in a limited amount of individuals, when ten of thousands of patients try them they could have more rare or idiosyncratic adverse effects.

on viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) for about a month now, at a 20mg dose with wellbutrin. the side effects haven't  lessened. what meds other than lexapro should i try?

Many options: Under your psychiatrist supervision and recommendation, other ssri/snri are sertraline, venlafaxine, paroxetine, fluoxetine, duloxetine. Mirtazapine, old antidepressants, even ect; augmentation with other types of meds are also possibilities. Wellbutrin (bupropion) might be increased? Psychotherapy as an adjuvant should be a non pharmacological method to consider. Ask your psychiatrist. You will feel better.

i want to wean off of viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride). the sexual side effects are too hard to work with even with wellbutrin in the mix. what's a safe timeframe to wean off something like viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride)?

Slowly: First off, i'm surprised you are on both the viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) and the wellbutrin but i'm sure it is not unheard of. Weening is variable but typically people can do it by decreasing by 1/2 every 4-8 days, or about a week. I.E., 20mg for a week, 10mg for a week, 5mg for a week than stop, much like when you started taking the medication.

every snri/ssri i tried for severe gad jas had bad side effects.   i need something.   is brintellix or viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) good?  are they well tolerated?

Go another route: Your profile indicates that you are taking caffeine and an antidepressant for generalized anxiety disorder. I understand you have tried several serotonergic agents for generalized anxiety. It may be time to try something else. Caffeine of course can cause significant anxiety.  ( and blood pressure issues )

Either: In my experience with viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) i tend to hear about it not being particularly activating or sedating.  Changes in energy levels in either direction do not appear to be particularly pronounced.  However, individual patients may find it activating and some patients may also find it to be sedating.  It is not known for any particular dramatic change in energy.  Stay safe!

Variable.: Everyone is different and time will tell. You should discuss with your physician the risks and benefits of each and the best method of changing.. Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) works much like Celexa in inhibiting the re-uptake of serotonin. Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride)  also acts on another receptor, called the  serotonin 1a receptor. It is thought , for some,  this receptor may help additionally in both depression and anxiety.

why has viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) been a financial failure when all ssri type drugs are blockbusters?

Interesting..: Question and i can't really answer that,  but most likely because of business reasons; that is, i don't think it was marketed that well and also it seems like insurance companies do not want to pay for it. I don't think it's because of how well it works.
