See below: Hydrocodone and its metabolites are detectable in the breast mild days after ingestion. The level depends on the amount taken and your rapidity of metabolism. You can breastfeed with the infant being monitored but try to keep intake at a minimum of less than 35 mg  a day. Remember its effect on the infant is also variable.

It depends: Your question is somewhat vague. All medications when appropriately prescribed for its indication and taken as directed by a physician should not be a problem. Vicodin is hydrocodone and Acetaminophen and is indicated for moderate to severe pain. The issue is the misuse/abuse  of the medication. It has the potential for physical dependence, cause respiratory depression when taken in excess & death.

No-Maybe 4 some: A mom/baby learning to breastfeed is like 2 teens at their 1st dance in jr-hi, they sort of know what they are supposed to do, but they don't automatically fee comfortable with it at first.  Some mothers have tons of milk, perfect nipples for latching & a reluctant baby. Other babies could suck milk out of a doorknob, but mom can't get comfortable. Keep trying,  use lactation consultant 4 help.
