Vertical eye turn: An intermittent vertical eye turn in a child may represent a benign condition such as a congenital 4th nerve palsy.  This can also be seen in adults. Closed head trauma may also be a cause and be in the patient's history.  Although a vertical heterophoria may be longstanding and benign, it should always be evaluated by a qualified eye physician to rule out any underlying neurological conditions.

This is uncommon: Vertical heterophoria would be a tendency for one eye to move up (or down) in relation to the other other eye.  This would cause double vision or blurred vision.  Glasses can be made to compensate for this and relieve the symptoms.

Eye  patches: Strabismus , or lazy eye, is treated with various different methods. The goal is to avoid visual loss, known as amblyopia. The initial treatment usually consists of eye patches. Sometimes eyedrops ,   eye glasses, or surgery are needed.  It is important to seek the advice of an eye specialist to monitor visual acuity throughout the years. Talk to your pcp about a referral. Surgery!: The only treatment is really eye surgery!  rarely, e exercises in select cases at early ages my help.

would vision therapy  fix my strabismus?

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: Vision therapy supposedly improves the efficiency of vision but cannot in any circumstance improve eye position which is what is dysfunctional in strabismus.  Vision therapy is untested, unproven and generally a big waste of time and money.  Check with an ophthalmologist who is a specialist in strabismus in your area (frequently pediatric ophthalmologists) for the best information on your eyes.
