Yes, & yes, & yes: You are precisely right. Has your blood pressure and heart rate been monitored lately? Are you on medications which nauseate you? Are you on medications which lower your blood pressure? People's ability to tolerate drugs deteriorates progressively as they age, especially when on multiple medications.

: When I answered your question previously I should have told you that back over 50 years ago when the cold pressor test was in vogue many clinicians disputed its usefulness in predicting which people were potential hypertension candidates as there were too many different reactions to the test. . I don't think your vasovagal reaction is of any diagnostic concern.

normal: When you yawn, the opening of the mouth widely causes a compression of the tear drainage tubing next to the nose.  If you have residual tears in your eye, this will cause them to leak over onto your cheek.  This is normal and not a problem.

High carbon dioxide: Back in medical school, it was explained to me that as we get tired our respiratory rate goes down raising our carbon dioxide level. This rise causes us to yawn and take a deep breath to expel the rising carbon dioxide. It sounded good to me at the time.

???: Define severe? If yawning while reading makes you tired, then you are one of the blessed few who know the best way to get to sleep at night. If it is a problem, then it is just because what you are reading is excessively boring.

Yawning: Some helpful and common sense tips: get better sleep - avoid alcohol at night, and if you snore or are very tired during the day, consider sleep apnea testing.  Sometimes putting your tongue to the roof of your mouth can help suppress a yawn.

Not: Contagious means that it is passed on from one person to another.   Seeing somebody yawn may make you think about being sleepy, and have you yawning as well, but this is only suggestive and not compelling.
