where can we get  type ab blood donor?

Accepted Answer

Not necessary: Type ab is the rarest blood type. It is the only "universal recipient" meaning those with type ab can accept type o, type a, type b and type ab without reactions. The only people who type ab's can donate to are their fellow type ab's, but if you are type ab you can accept anyone's blood!

Family practice: Yes you can. They always screen you for certain illnesses that would prevent you from donating. Most people have been exposed to the virus.  Unless you have active illness you should be able to donate.

MMR, Chicken pox and: Mmr, varicella (chicken pox) and yellow fever all have a 4 week waiting period until blood can be donated.

Accepted Answer

Nothing: This is a lab curiosity that may make it a bit more tricky for the blood bank to be sure that your blood is safe for the next person.  It should have no health implications to you.

Accepted Answer

Not fully: Blood donors are only screened for conditions transmitted via blood (hiv, hepatitis, etc.). There are other potentials (gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc.) that are not screened for, and potentially could be present. Condoms always best choice.

Dehydration: It may be that you were not properly hydrated when blood was drawn for hemoglobin testing. Next time you donate blood, drink plenty of water before going to the donor center and ask them to do hemoglobin determination. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Yes, but unlikely: A person with beta thalassemia trait may be not anemic or mildly anemic. If he is not anemic, he can be a blood donor. However, since he has a more difficult time making hemoglobin (to make new red blood cells), he may not wish to be a blood donor.

This could be seriou: Drop of Hemoglobin(Hb) is a result of something serious going on in your body. So you should recheck your blood(CBC) and go see your doctor for medical check up and further tests to find the cause of this degree of anemia. Time is of essence, so do not  delay it.

Accepted Answer

Not likely: The amount of thc in blood or blood products is not likely to cause a positive urine test. You are more likely to get a positive test from exposure to second hand marijuana smoke.

as the insertive circumsized partner in heterosexual sex, without anal or blood exposure, is my risk of contracting htlv as low/lower than hiv? (no ones tested for htlv unless theyre a blood donor or in a study?

Accepted Answer

: Risk of contracting HTLV is lower than HIV if your partner is infected and risk of developing the disease is much, much lower; only 2 to 6 percent of people infected with HTLV-1 will ever develop an illness.
