Toxic shock syndrome: Toxic shock syndrome or TSS, happens when tampon is left in place for long periods of time such as 8-12 hours. my vagina is very swollen completely inside to a point where i can't insert a tampon, it's not sore  just very worrying, any idea what this could be?

Unusual: Possibilities might include a bartholin's gland cyst, allergic reaction to something used locally, rectal or bladder prolapse (unlikely at your age.) get checked by your pcp and find out.

Vaginal itch: The vagina, a mucous membrane,  is the inside area of the female genitalia, and the vulva is skin, and the outside area.  You could get a vaginitis, an inflammation of the vagina from condoms, tampons, or a yeast infection. You can get a vulvitis, from contact with detergents and soaps, and also from a yeast. Stop using everything to see whether it goes away. Keep the outside dry.

Hard to say: It is hard to guess what might be causing this. If this is not typical for you after each cycle then we can not conclude that it is normal. If the pain continues the next step is a physical exam by a gynecologist.

Multiple causes: This could be anything from irritation due to physical trauma, to an allergic reaction (latex condoms use?), to a sexually transmitted disease.  You should have it checked out by your doctor.  Meanwhile, keep things out of there.

Too many causes!: From herpes, to conditions more benign. Can be an infected cyst, and many other things. See your doc!

Infection: This sounds like you may have a vaginal infection. Green spots could be a sign of an infection like a Bartholin's gland cyst.  I would see a doctor so you can be checked and treated. If the vagina hurts, that can also be a sign that good bacteria of the vagina (lactobaccilli) have been replaced by another bacteria.  May not be a std, but may still need to be treated.  See clinic or doctor.

Fungus: Or chlamidia, start with an otc antifungal agent and if it doesn't improve, see your doctor.
