Puncture wound: Rx for a puncture wound requires copious cleansing of the wound with Normal Saline washes, deriding any devitalized tissue, clean wound care products and observation. Depending on the circumstances, a culture may be taken and emperic antibiotics may be given pending the results of the culture. Also, we recommend that a patient with a puncture have up-to-date coverage with a tetanus shot.
