Some: You can see polyps or fibroids that are inside the uterine cavity. You can also see an abnormally shaped uterus. But you cannot see endometriosis or cancer. You might see damaged tubes and endometriosis is a common cause for that.

Uterine : Uterine cancer is the most common gynecological cancer. The cancer usually starts in the lining of the uterus, called the endometrium.  Warning signs that something may be wrong include vaginal bleeding, spotting, or discharge in between periods. Also, bleeding or spotting that occurs after a woman has gone through menopause is a reason to get evaluated. More advanced disease may cause painful urination, pain in the pelvic area, or pain during intercourse.

There is an increased chance of endometrial cancer in a woman who has taken the hormone estrogen alone (not in combination with progesterone.) also, women who have had breast cancer and who have been treated with tamoxifen may be at increased risk, and should have a yearly pelvic exam, particularly is any unexpected vaginal bleeding occurs.

The effects of the cancer depend on how far it has spread in the body. If limited to the endometrium, bleeding may be the only sign. If it spreads to the adjacent bladder or bowel, it can cause blood in the urine or stool and pain.

Not necessarily: Uterine thickening of 9 mm is not bad enough to suspect cancer. Your doctor will guide you further but Cancer is unlikely to be the cause of your Ultrasound reported findings.

Not necessarily: Any abnormal vaginal bleeding should be evaluated by a physician. It may or may not be related to the prolapse, but there are also many other causes.

Probably: If your lining is thin you would expect light, short periods.

Not yet: You do need to get a diagnosis. Don't procrastinate and you should be fine; if this is cancer and you've kept up surveillance, you are still by far more likely to have a good outcome.

Yes: Yes good for iui, but if that is his consistent result (on two tests), and the cervix is normal and you are not using Clomid (clomiphene) as a stimulation drug for fertility treatment, there is no good evidence that IUI actually increases pregnancy rates.  Iui became popular as a treatment to balance the negative effect of Clomid (clomiphene) on the cervical mucous.  Now with newer drugs not so necessary.  Good luck.

32 yr old female. found 1cm uterine polyp 4 yrs ago during us because midcycle bleeding. never removed it. had two babies in 2018 and 2021. after each kid i had one episode of midcycle bleeding. my last us said polyp shrunk. is that a sign no cancer?

: It is surprising that the polyp persisted through two pregnancies and deliveries. If it has become smaller in size it is not cancer. However, it would still be advisable to have it removed.

is an enlarged uterus a sure sign of uterine cancer?

Accepted Answer

No: An enlarged uterus is not a "sure" sign of uterine cancer.  The uterus can be enlarged for other reasons including fibroids.  It is important to be evaluated by your doctor so that he/she can do a compete evaluation.
