is it ok to use aldomet (methyldopate) when you are undergoing ivf and even after?

Accepted Answer

Yes aldomet (methyldopate): Is safe when ttc and when pregnant, but plz check with your ivf doctor first. Aldomet (methyldopate) can elevate prolactin levels in some women, which can interfere with ttc in some cases.

my sister in law tried the iui but it was of no use. how long can she wait to do the ivf

Accepted Answer

No wait: You can go directly into an ivf cycle from IUI without waiting, though it is likely the doctor will want to use Lupron (leuprolide) or birth control pills the month before. Ivf needs to planned a month or two in advance.

it seems to me that all ivf clinics would perform the procedure the same- and use the same protocols. what are the factors that make some clinics perform higher?

Many: There are many subtle things that are done differently such as stimulation protocol, length, etc.. Laboratory is also a key factor and finally transfer techniques.  Sometimes patient population is also different hence reflecting success rates.

can you use light heating pad on back and utetus to help implantation after ivf transfer?

Accepted Answer

Ask your IVF doc!: I am pretty sure there is no scientific data to answer your question conclusively - so ask your ivf center about this. I would not expect any effect on implantation likelihood if i were you, though. Make sure you are taking Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily, avoid stress/smoking/alcohol, maintain a positive attitude and good luck!

if using an egg donor, can i use my first cousin's sperm for ivf?

Yes: Because they are unrelated. Using a cousin's sperm will insure that your baby will inherit some family genes.

Accepted Answer

Depends: The timing of your cycle depends on what other medications are used, your past menstrual cycle history and if  a lack of ovulation is one of the reasons you needed IVF.

Accepted Answer

Many reasons: We believe the most common reason that infertility seems to be on the rise is a delay in having children.  As more and more women choose the path of education and careers it is natural to see a delay in desire to bear children.  Age is perhaps the most important factor in a woman's ability to get pregnant.  Increase in obesity rates is probably another major factor.

37 year old ivf patient with decreased ovarian reserve. should i continue trying or use donor eggs?

Accepted Answer

It depends: Donor eggs will clearly be the better option for having a healthy baby. There is no question that the chance of having a healthy baby is lower if you try to use your own eggs, especially when you have decreased reserve. If you already tried ivf but didn't get pregnant, it might be worth another try as long as you stimulated well and had 5 or more eggs. Otherwise i think donor eggs are best.

2nd iui just failed. will try 3rd then ivf will i have a better chance conceiving with ivf and what is the average number of eggs one uses?

Accepted Answer

All of them: We actually inseminate all the eggs to try to get them all to fertilize.  On average about 70% of eggs will fertilize and only half of them will be potentially viable embryos.

Of these, depending on your age, we transfer two embryos, thought about 25% of the time, both of these embryos will implant (twins).  So in the best of all worlds, we will do an elective single embryo transfer.

recently i've had my first ivf and icsi treatment. positive test on 30th november. saturday 7th started bleeding (enough to use a towel). have i m/c?

Accepted Answer

Get a blood test : To check HCG levels. Any bleeding can be a warning of a miscarriage, yet I have seen women have significant bleeding still proceed to term. For some things we just have to wait and see.
