Kept in positon: Most chemotherapeutic agents are delivered intravenously while a few can be given orally.  With IV therapy which is given over several hrs  the patient is kept in a lounge chair.  Because of toxicity to the veins when given iv,  a port is usually placed in the subclavian vein  and placed under the skin where the IV line can easily be introduced.

Many dangers: From effects on appetite to cardiac arrhythmias on a depleted state. There are only a few conditions where low doses prescribed amphetamines may be tried for palliative reasons. It has to do with a clear goal setting discussion with prescribing physician where possible benefits are projected against likely side effects.

How about never?: You are not 'supposed' to vomit. Not all chemo drugs will cause vomiting and there are many agents used nowadays to prevent that side effect.  Sadly, some people will still have nausea and even vomit but you should not assume that is the rule.  Word of advise: if you are 'sure' you will vomit with chemo, there is very little your doc can do to prevent it.  Very powerful the mind is....

BM suppression: Chemotherapy kills rapidly growing cells. Bone Marrow where red blood cells and WBCs are made are also affected.So there is suppression of WBCs and it takes 2 weeks to recover and slowly increases back to normal level. There fore Oncologist checks CBC before each Chemotherapeutic session,

Usually no...: Unless someone is quite obese before starting chemotherapy, weight loss is not desired. It can be quite difficult to maintain good nutrition while receiving chemo. Having a thorough nutritional evaluation before beginning, and at regular intervals during therapy is important.

Why should you have: There is little reason to have pain during chemo? it is a myth that some ignorant people can pass on to you. Giving chemotherapy is like taking intravenous fluids via your vein. Chemo does not hurt although placing a needle in the vein does sting for a few minutes, but chemo itself is painless!

Wait: The chemo will wear off. If you have spontaneous bleeding, report this to your oncologist. Otherwise, do nothing and follow their advice. They know what they're doing. Low platelets occur commonly with many chemotherapeutic agents.

Yes.: We do not require people to remove pets from their home but with your defenses being down, you should not be the one cleaning up after your pet. It is hard to avoid contact but you should. If contact occurs, keep a bottle of germicidal soap or wash with soap and water.
