Urethra worse: Though bladder and urethral cancer may sometimes have same cell origin,  occasionally urethral cancer can be of a type that is more aggresive and invasive and different from that of bladder cancer. Primary urethral cancer as opposed to invasive extension of cancer have different treatments which are more complex and difficult than the usual bladder cancer treatments.

Yes, but rare: Urethral cancer is rare and etiology is not well defined and it is not practical to suggest specific steps to avoid urethral cancer.  However, avoiding smoking, excess alcohol, chemical dyes would reduce the risk of cancer in general.

Can't say: Were you diagnosed or you think you have it?  If you do have it you need a good urologist who will likely initiate therapy and refer you to a medical oncologist or a radiation oncologist. It all depends on how advanced it is.

It depends: The location and length of urethra is quite different between male and females. Whether the lump is visible or not will depend on the size of the lump as well as the location of the tumor(first part of urethra is quite deeply located and difficult to palpate and see any lumps on).
