i have gerd, when i have a lot of gas  i get upper back pain, goes away after burping , happens when i eat big meals usually?

Accepted Answer

Simethicone: Simethicone dissolves the gas and that will help you. Obviously, eat smaller meals. Check and make sure you are not gulping down air when nervous or talking too fast (aerophagy). Consider taking a proton pump inhibitor to fix your gerd.  May want to discuss your options with a GI specialist, may want to check for barrett's esophagus at some point also.

i've got upper back pain, between my blades, that spreads to whole back, the pain in the middle of the chest with constant burping. what could it be?

Be seen: There are multiple causes, you should be seen.  Possibilities could include reflux, an ulcer, a thoracic dis herniation, an aneurysm, or even a cardiac or pulmonary cause.  A detailed exam and appropriate studies can usually determine the cause.

Probably GI: Still you need to rule out heart problems as women frequently have atypical chest pain masquerading as heart problems or circulatory issues. Best to start with your primary doctor and start getting the answers and some reassurance. Expect getting an ekg, blood work and possible x-rays.

Belching. : Excessive belching would not be a typical symptom of pancreatic disease. GERD, yes.

30minutes after eating way too much for lunch because i was very hungry,i started feeling a pain in stomach radiating to the back.i have very frequent belching and feel like a lot of gas is in my stomach.can gas in stomach cause upper back pain?

: Your symptoms may not necessarily be due to gas itself, but may be due to being overly full and perhaps having acid reflux. You may want to take a short trial of acid reducing medication for one to two weeks to see if it helps. If it does not, you should make an appointment to see your doctor or a gastroenterologist if the symptoms are persisting. Good luck.

Combination: Much of what you describe could be caused by air swallowing and anxiety. Having said that, it is not possible to have confidence in that without seeing and evaluating a patient.  Seeing your dr. Is needed if these symptoms are repetitive.

PT: Was probably just muscle pain. I would recommend you get into a formal course of physical therapy along with anti-inflammatory medications. This should do the trick.
