Yes: Early in pregnancy the hormone Progesterone starts to rise.  This hormone slows down the urinary tract and is one of the reasons pregnant women are more susceptible to urinary tract infections.

Not generally: While a simple bladder infection should not hurt a fetus, some of the antibiotics used to treat the infection are contraindicated. Getting systemically ill from a kidney infection can harm a pregnancy. Uti is non-specific in that it does not differentiate between a kidney infection or a bladder infection, both of which are urinary tract. Both should be treated dealt with sooner rather than later.

Get treated: A UTI is really not a problem if treated.  Get you physician to get a culture to make sure when they give you antibiotics, they will take care of the infection.  If still having a problem, some people will repeat the culture a few weeks later to make sure it resolved.

Preg UTI= -Preg UTI : While treatment is slightly different, diagnosing UTI is done so in the same manner whether pregnant or not.
