Herpes simplex: Depends upon the test to which you are referring.  Valtrex (valacyclovir) may diminish the presence of virus in the skin or mucous membranes lesions and lessen the chances of a viral culture being positive, but will not in any way alter the antibody test on a blood specimen.

Periods: You can take birth control pills for 3 straight months skipping the dummy pills in between. That way you will only have your period 4 times a year. Also, frequent herpes outbreaks may lessen if you take daily acyclovir. That is known as suppressive therapy. See your doctor to discuss both.

No foods, vitamins, medications, or health practices trigger outbreaks or have any effect on the frequency of outbreaks -- except treatment with anti-herpes drug like acyclovir or valacyclovir. If your genital herpes is due to HSV1 (which more commonly causes oral herpes), recurrent outbreaks and sexual transmission are rare. Find a doctor who understands herpes and follow her advice.

Most cases are random without any prior symptoms or obvious trigger. Conditions that increase risk of shingles, such as immune deficiency of various kinds, typically are present for a long time, often years, before an episode of shingles appears. Genital herpes, like nongenital herpes, has a mind of its own and just pops up when it wants to pop up. Any : Any stress on the body (group b strep infection in your case) can trigger a herpes outbreak. As far as passing herpes through the saliva with no outbreak, it is possibile but not very likely. A person is most contagious right before, during, and immediately after an outbreak. Research has shown that low levels of the virus can be detected at times other than stated previously, however like i stated previously the risk of transmission during this time is extremely low. On the other hand group b strep is very contagious, and you should avoid any intimate contact or sharing drinks, etc, until at least a week or so after you finish the antibiotics, 
take good care.

But if someone has multiple frequent outbreaks, consideration can be given to suppressive therapy (i.e. Take medication daily to prevent outbreaks). Talk to a doctor about the options.
