You are more likely to get them if you eat fatty foods, smoke, drink alcohol, don't exercise, or obese.

Variants such as villous or tubulo-villous adenomas may also describe this type of polyp.  If you have these removed at colonoscopy, you will require surveillance on a regular basis.
